NEVER BEFORE SEEN INTERVIEW and SURFING. Shane Beschen has a refreshing outlook on surfing and life, and we wanted to share some of his quotes from the Op Pro Boat Trip Challenge 2000.

"This trip is not like a real competition. It's way more of a let's all get better surfing trip. I love that so much more than a straight- I win you lose type of competition because surfing's really not like that. It's all about your freedom of how you want to paint your picture on the wave, really, and all of us do different paintings. It's great to learn lines from everybody; I think that's how everyone is treating this trip. It's not really like we're here competing against each other. We're pushing each other to get better."

"I'd love to see all the potential world champions come together and create something new and entertaining for the people. Let everyone know how radical surfing is and how incredible it is."

"I tested out all the sports and really came to love surfing more than any of them just for the fact that it's not a team- it's up to you to decide how you want to surf and what kind of lines you want to draw on the wave and just all that type of freedom I guess I really learned to love."

"Those are my favorite moments in surfing- just when the lip folds over you as your bottom turning or as you enter the air- everything stops, and it's kind of like going back to the birthplace of where we all came from." -Shane Beschen.
