Barn cats saved! While Randy and I were cleaning out the barn we chased out a half a dozen small mice. We even had a mouse chew into a small zip lock bag of corn I was about to bring out to to the hunting woods, I almost carried him with me to the stand. So, we mentioned to our wives Lisa and Corbie that we should get a barn cat! Not two weeks later and we have saved and re-homed 3 feral cats to the farm. The cats were being fed by someone along with several other cats. When that person could no longer feed these feral street cats, they were picked up by Animal Protective Services. After some time, it was determined that these three cats would not be adoptable to a traditional home. Their future was bleak and likely short lived. So, the only option they had was to find some off grid property where they could roam free and have a chance.
Having barn cats will be great to keep the small critters down as well as enjoy them as we see them on the property. Lisa and Corbie have researched how best to re-home these feral cats so that they not only stick around the farm, but that they thrive. We are keeping the cats in the barn, out of cages, for the next three weeks. They have comfortable accommodations with plenty of food and water. The cats have litter boxes in the barn and we will be spreading the litter in areas behind the barn so that they eventually know that is where they go to the bathroom. Randy will be putting a cat door in over this next weekend which we will “opened” in the next two weeks so they can begin getting outside. Hopefully, we will have some game camera pictures of Penny, Cleo and Shadow coming and going out the kitty door in the coming weeks.

My favorite hunting partner, my dad, enjoyed getting out to camp and enjoying some hard work, good laughs, family time, and occasionally getting a deer. When dad was no longer able to get in the woods with me, I started sharing brief videos with him. Now that dad has gone home to Heaven, I still enjoy taking the videos, but share them with YouTube and each of you. A lot of the time when speaking into the camera, I'm thinking of talking to dad! I hope you enjoy them!
