Glycerol in your pre-workout? A common ingredient in non-stimulant pre workouts, glycerol is touted as a "pump enhancer" and "endurance improve-r". But what is it? What does it do?
Glycerol improves workout "pumps" through a hydration pathway which is distinct from the Nitric Oxide (NO) pathway ingredients such as L-Citrulline act upon.
Additionally, Glycerol has the ability to hyperhydrate your cells; temporarily supersaturating them. This increased potential to retain water can be very beneficial at attenuating the detrimental effects of dehydration in situations where re-hydrating opportunities are minimal.
