I’ve worked within the company for two years and at this point Slater and Gordon have given me the opportunity to apply for a training contact, and to achieve my ultimate goal of becoming a qualified solicitor. So I started on the first response unit two years ago, around six months after that I moved on to become a legal assistant in the claims team. Following that I became a legal assistant in the complex claims team. Before becoming a legal advisor on the claims team, at the start of this year.
From a management perspective it is ideal for us to be able to recruit from within - partially our trainees. In terms of Owen, obviously Owen been at the company for two years now so it’s nice for him to progress and for us to be part of that progression. Obviously he’s going to be a solicitor and we’d like think he’s going to be part of the business for many years to come.
After passing my qualifications in university, I found out that there’s a bit of a block into getting into the legal trade. That’s when the opportunities come through - Slater and Gordon, they gave me my first job in the profession and they gave me a very easy route into becoming a trainee solicitor. It was streamline, it was a clear opportunity. If you are willing to work hard, if you’re willing to put the effort in there’s a very good chance that you will develop and you will obtain a training contract. I feel, I may have struggled to achieve this if it wasn’t for Slater and Gordon.
