The Ruger Mark II is a rimfire semi-automatic pistol chambered in .22lr ("Long Rifle").
It was made from 1982 to 2005. It replaced the Standard, Ruger's first model, made from 1949 to 1982, and the MK I Target, made from 1951 to 1982.
The Ruger Standard was designed by company founder William B. Ruger after World War II.
When William B. Ruger designed the pistol, he took inspiration from the Japanese Nambu Pistol and the German Luger P08.
It went on to become one of the most successful .22 semi-automatic pistols ever produced.
The Ruger MK II was removed from production in 2004, when it was replaced by the Ruger MK III.
