The Digital Twin Journeys series from the Construction Innovation Hub weaves together existing research from the University of Cambridge on digital twins into industry-facing outputs, sharing key lessons learned in ways that progress industry’s knowledge base and confidence in developing digital twins.
This two-video series features the service innovation work of the Smart Hospitals team, led by Dr Michael Barrett and Dr Karl Prince. They have observed as two smart hospitals reconfigured their services and spaces with digital technology in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and explored how connected digital twins could form part of a service ecosystem that reduces friction in healthcare service pathways.
The first video explains the contexts of the two case studies, and how service innovation was demonstrated at both hospitals during the pandemic. In the second video, the team reflects on the potential role of connected digital twins to enhance user experience of services, the role of digital exclusion and inequality and the developing relationship between digital twins and physical spaces.
