This is Emily at Oz Inflatable Kayaks showing you how to set up the AdvancedFrame Convertible Elite Kayak from Advanced Elements.
Now in this video, we’re going to be showing you using the old AdvancedFrame Convertible Kayak which has the low-back seats, not the new lovely high-back ones and the old soft floor.
So in the Convertible Elite there’s actually a Drop-Stitch Floor which is a high pressure floor and has beautiful high-back seats with lumbar support. So I’ll mention that when we get a little bit closer.
Now, the first thing he does is take the kayak out of the bag, unfold it and then what you are going to see him do is inflate the inner tubes.
Now I wanna talk about this. The inner tube actually has 2 chambers because there’s a vertical wall going down the middle. So when he inflates this first chamber here, he uses the screw-in valve adaptor, so he sets the valve to inflate, uses the screw-in valve adaptor so you get the back pressure reading and the pressure gauge is just on top of the pump there. He doesn’t go too much pressure. All he’s doing is putting a bit of air in. You can see there, it’s not taut.
It’s in the second chamber that you go to 2 PSI and that second chamber pushes back on the first one and balances the pressure to 2 PSI.
Now, on the new one. The floor valve is an HR valve, it’s a really high pressure valve and you go to 4 to 6 PSI but the process is the same. You just pump it up basically.
This little thing here is a thwart. It’s for the rear paddler, a foot rest basically, and it’s just low pressure. It just stops anyone getting kicked in the back basically nobody loves to be in front getting kicked right?
These are little deck lifts, I just blow these up actually with my mouth, basically one little breath of air and they just keep water off the deck.
These are bow and stern separators, they just help the kayak get a really nice shape in the bow and stern so that it cuts through that chop beautifully. You can pop them in at pretty well any stage of the inflation.
Now, the new seats, like I said, on the AdvancedFrame Convertible Elite Kayak. The seats have a lumbar cushion, just behind the lumbar there and you just inflate them with a mouthpiece. You can do it before you go or you can do it as you are paddling if you want a bit of support during your paddling trip.
That’s showing the solo-seating position there in the middle.
And that’s it! Away you go!
So it’s a really quick process - about 6 or 7 minutes from start to finish.
