Independent MP Sophie Scamps has accused the Coalition of “giving up” on inner city seats after walking away from Australia’s 2030 climate target.
On Saturday The Weekend Australian revealed Opposition leader Peter Dutton would be opposing Labor’s target of a 43 per cent emissions cut by 2030 in a break from the Paris Agreement.
“I think they’ve given up on these inner-city seats,” Mr Scamps said.
“This is a backwards step, a wedge to try and win I think the outer urban and other seats.
“But I think they have abandoned these inner-city seats.”
