An animated film that demonstrates the complex yet critical interaction of hormones and mechanics during labour, birth and the postnatal period, and the potential impact this has on the outcome and experience.
The film aimed at people involved in maternity (midwifes, doulas, obstetricians and families), and parents-to-be and aims to encourage, inspire and give practical advice and increase knowledge and to demonstrate the importance of understanding the impact of physiology on childbirth.

The film is directed by Emma Lazenby and the award winning team at ForMed Films CIC. Working closely in collaboration with the clinical team, Emma gathered the real voices of women giving birth and used them as the base for the film, creating a number of characters and birthing partners around the world all going through labor and giving birth. The story of the physiology and mechanics of birth weaving through them all. A good film for parents to explain birth to children.
The film was made during the COVID 19 pandemic in 2021, with Emma animating the film on her houseboat in Wiltshire working with a team of animators, designers, composers and a producer all working remotely from their homes around Europe.
