Ontario public health officials provided an update on the ongoing provincial COVID-19 response on Wednesday, with Ontario’s associate Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Barbara Yaffe stating that there were 212 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province, including five resolved cases and one deceased individual.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams said that Ontarians are taking the recommended self-isolation and social distancing processes during the outbreak “seriously,” adding that it is “not easy.” Williams encouraged all people to continue self-isolation or social distancing, especially as they continue to have Canadians return from abroad.
The update came one day after Premier Doug Ford announced a state of emergency for the province.
