Australian artist Tim Storrier says the judicious and "due diligent" manner assessing the quality of artworks for government funding is "clearly not happening" and now you have this "runaway train" of nepotism by the people running the Arts Council.
"Surely there is a place for certain amount of state funding for the arts, but it has to be done judiciously with the due diligence that looks at the quality of what's been produced," he told Sky News host Alan Jones.
"That's clearly not happening. So, you have this runaway train caused by the people who are running the Arts Council.
"And what's happened in these areas in my opinion is the type of dreadful nepotism where one group of people then give the tenureship of the judgments to other people that they know who then give it to other friends of theirs."
