Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens will move from his current role to become the new head of basketball operations as president Danny Ainge plans to resign, sources tell The Athletic. Stevens will lead the search for a new head coach.
Ainge, 62, has held his position since 2003, hiring only two coaches during that span: Doc Rivers and Stevens, who joined the team in 2013 after six decorated seasons at Butler. Stevens, 44, has gone 354-282 during eight seasons with the Celtics while making three trips to the Eastern Conference finals, including in the Orlando bubble in 2020.
