A dehydrated states promotes a stress response in the body, decreasing insulin sensitivity meaning it is hard for cells to use sugar as an energy source, this cycles back and creates more stress and more ticked off cells because they can’t perform the tasks they want and need to perform at the capacity they desire.
When cells are stressed because of dehydration cortisol goes up and most of us know what happens when cortisol is consistently elevated as compared when it is going through its normal rhythm of being high in the morning and low at night.
In 2018, the World Journal of Psychiatry, found that individuals who drank less than two cups of plain water per day were significantly more likely to suffer from anxiety and depression compared to individuals who consumed 5 or more cups of water per day.
Hydration is a big deal for your brain.
Focus on drinking a minimum of 1/3 of your body weight in ounces of water per day.
