The flood in February 1955 was the most destructive in Maitland's long history of flooding. for many who experienced it, the flood was the most dramatic event in their lives. With great courage and generosity, survivors and rescuers reunited in 2010 to record their memories and pay tribute to the humanity and resilience of the Maitland community. The Hunter-Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority and State Emergency Service would like to thank the participants for sharing their stories. Special acknowledgment goes to Maitland historian Peter Bogan for coordinating the recording sessions.
