In this video, I performed ascending double cuts on single and double mat targets with the Tang dynasty Zhan Ma Dao that LK Chen Swords sent to me for testing and review. This large Zhan Ma Dao (horse chopping sword) is surprising nimble with its long grip and close point of balance. The thick tapering spine results in a stiff blade and the flat grind on the edge bevel produces a blade that cuts through thick dense targets with ease.
