The 6th of June 1944 is better known as D-Day, the Normandy Landings where Allied forces of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Despite the majority of the attacking forces coming from these nations, in truth a whole host of smaller ones contributed to the efforts. The Netherlands, while invaded by the Germans in 1940, also helped to make D-Day a success with aid from air and sea. The final surviving Dutch veteran of the Prinses Irene Brigade, Max Wolff, now 98 years old, also attended the 80th anniversary commemoration in Arromanches.
