How to make sourdough starter Recipe Step by Step Guide
Sourdough starter is made from very simple and few ingredients. In essence you are cultivating your own wild form of yeast at home. Once your starter is ready also known as levain you can make gorgeous artisan breads right from your home.
This wild yeast takes between 5-7 days to make. Sometimes shorter or longer. There are so many factors that play a role. To see my first go with making starter, check out my Instagram highlights 🙈. Let’s just say I learned A LOT!! Lol
Once the starter has doubled in size within 3-6 hours of feeding it a few times you are ready to bake your first sourdough bread!!! My first was not a success but practice makes perfect.
