Road rules testing could soon become mandatory for drivers in Queensland when they go to renew their licence.
Motorists busted speeding more than 40 kilometres an hour over the limit could also have their licence immediately suspended under a new plan by the state government.
Transport Minister Mark Bailey is expected to announce the new measures today which were recommended by road safety experts during talks earlier this year.
The roundtable occurred after the deaths of 299 people on Queensland roads last year.
