Home favourites and defending champions Argentina faced Germany in the final game of day one of the Women's Hockey Champions trophy. Argentina came out winners 1-0. The German defence frustrated the home crowd until the 52nd minute when Augustina Habif scored indirectly from a penalty corner and after a late German resurgence Argentina triumphed.
