Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan has slammed Jeremy Corbyn by calling him out for telling a “massive whopper” during an interview on his television program.
The former leader of the UK Labour Party claimed his only affectionate comment towards Hamas came when “a person who was related to Hamas” left a private meeting momentarily which, Mr Corbyn said, led him to ask “where has our friend from Hamas gone”.
“If only that was all he’d said but it quickly turned out, thanks to social media which always keeps receipts, it was just a massive whopper,” Mr Morgan said.
Mr Morgan then proceeded to play a video from 2009 where Mr Corbyn is heard saying “our friends from Hezbollah … friends from Hamas”.
The video continues with Mr Corbyn saying, “the idea that an organisation that is dedicated towards the good of the Palestinian people and bringing about long-term peace and social justice and political justice in the whole region should be labelled as a terrorist organisation by the British government is really a big, big historical mistake”.
“If you can’t call Hamas a terror group then frankly, I think you are a terrorist sympathiser – it’s not difficult,” Mr Morgan said once the video finished.
