The Peugeot E-5008 is a mid-sized electric SUV featuring a seven-seat layout as standard. Based on the same ‘STLR Medium’ platform as the E-3008, it offers similar powertrain options and trims, including a 73kWh battery with a single-motor, front-wheel drive option for a 311-mile WLTP range, and a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup with nearly the same range. A 98kWh model, arriving in 2025, promises a 410-mile range. Currently, the E-5008 is only available as a seven-seater, with pricing starting around £48,000. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, offering a 49-mile electric range, are expected by 2025.
The E-5008 competes with the Mercedes EQB and Kia EV9, positioning itself uniquely in the market. Its 73kWh models offer a 311-mile WLTP range, outperforming the Mercedes EQB and other seven-seat electric vehicles like the Citroen e-Berlingo. In real-world tests, the E-5008 achieved a range of 263 miles, which could extend to 280 miles in city driving or drop to 210-240 miles in winter.
Charging capabilities include up to 160kW, enabling a 62-mile top-up in ten minutes or a 20-80% charge in 30 minutes. Home charging via a 7kW wallbox takes 12-15 hours, with 11kW AC charging as standard. Practicality is a strong point, with 748 liters of boot space in five-seat mode and 259 liters with all seven seats in use. The E-5008 also features clever seating configurations and useful storage solutions.
The interior of the E-5008 mirrors that of the E-3008, featuring a stylish dashboard, a high driving position, and a standout 21-inch curved display for the infotainment and digital driver’s display. It includes built-in navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a user-friendly infotainment system.
Performance-wise, the 78kWh model with a 211bhp motor offers adequate power, with a 0-62mph time of 9.7 seconds. A more powerful 319bhp dual-motor variant is also available, with a 0-62mph time expected under 7 seconds.
Pricing in the UK is anticipated to start around £48,000 for the base model, with higher trims and options increasing the price to over £55,000. The E-5008 offers good value given its range, equipment, and practicality. It comes with an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty, provided the car is serviced regularly at Peugeot dealers.
