Great Western Railway 6959 Class Modified Hall 6990 'Witherslack Hall', a 4-6-0 Mixed Traffic Steam Locomotive developed by Frederick Hawksworth as an improvement to Charles Collett's earlier design & built at Swindon in 1948 for British Railways (BR), is seen reversing backwards from the buffer stops on the run-round loop at Leicester North Station, heading for the Main line (where it then changes direction to couple up to a train after this video). With a BR power classification of 5MT (GWR D), these engines were originally designed for to work across the entire GWR network on anything from express passenger to Freight trains, however in this video you can see 6990 here, in BR Lined Brunswick Green livery with Early Emblem, on the Great Central Railway at 'The First Hurrah' event, shortly before it is due to take charge of a passenger train from Leicester North to Loughborough Central on the 5th of June 2021.
