The deadline for the conclusion of talks at the COP26 climate summit has passed without an agreement after representatives from over 200 countries failed to strike a deal to cut emissions and end the use of coal and other fossil fuels.
The latest draft sets tighter deadlines for government's to reveal their plans to cut greenhouse gas emissions but watered down commitments to end the use of non-renewables.
While maintaining its core demand for nations to set tougher climate pledges, the draft uses weaker language than an earlier text in asking countries to phase out fossil fuel subsidies.
The draft decision is being discussed by representatives from nearly 200 countries and the final version has to be agreed to by all summit members.
Britain's COP26 President Alok Sharma has called on nations to do more to get an agreement over the line.
The summit could be extended until Sunday if no resolution is reached.
