The Canfield Tilt is a new trail bike for the Colorado-based brand and it has 138mm of rear suspension with a 150mm fork and 29-inch wheels. The frame is made from aluminum and uses Canfield's CBF suspension platform, which is also found on Revel Bikes.
The build we reviewed for the Singletracks Mid-Travel Mashup included a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain, Cane Creek suspension, Canfield wheels, TRP brakes, a ProTaper cockpit, and an SDG dropper post. The test bike weighs 31.8 lbs and retails for $4,899.
We tested the size medium on the Front Range trails in Colorado and for a week in Copper Harbor, Michigan and found that the trail bike has an amazing suspension feel, uphill and downhill and was one of the best technical climbing bikes in the bunch. The short 165mm crank arms were something of significance as well, and likely contributed to how well this bike tackled technical ascents.
The Canfield Tilt is a great climber, and an absolute blast on the descents, but riders who have some technical trails close to them will love it most. You can take the Tilt on loads of flow trails if you like, but you’ll miss out on the true magic of the CBF suspension platform.
