Due to a certain illness, the gyms were starting to close. I had to decide to transit to more body weighted type workouts.
On 30th March 2020, I decided to force myself to take on a 30 Day Murph Challenge doing a Murph every single day which I found online and seems really gruesome. Yet, it also seems like a good challenge to restart and condition my body for harder workouts.
The Murph every single day for 30 days with no rest:
- 1-mile run (1.6km), 300 air squats, 200 push-ups, 100 pull-ups, followed by another 1-mile run (1.6km).
- 20lbs vest (optional)
- Time under 1 Hour
This comes to a total of 60 miles, 9000 air squats, 6000 push-ups and 3000 pull-ups.
My actual intention to do such a challenge is to break through a mental block I am having and to give myself a way out to push myself beyond my limits. Ultimately, I want to prove to myself that I can achieve anything I put my mind to, and as long as I commit to it persistently and consistently.
Honestly, some days felt terrible but by committing and promising myself to finish it everyday, I do it anyway. I would say this challenge is more mental than physical. There wasn't much transformation visibly, but it boosted my confidence to overcome my fears and keep going despite having a good or bad day.
No, it doesn't get better after every time you do it.
