From “spines to pines”, the Crown King Scramble 50K brings you on a journey through a few vibrant ecosystems in Arizona. Starting at Lake Pleasant, this race literally starts on the boat launch ramp and then takes you out of the park on a maintained forest road. Be prepared for epic scenery with the sun rising above the lake, wild burros in the desert and picturesque mountains in every direction. Don’t sleep on this ultramarathon - it’s an Arizona classic for a reason!
As we continued on the course, there were countless water crossings, canyons and long climbs along the way. Topping out around 6,800 feet of elevation gain, this race is literally one giant hill climb! Luckily, there is a fun 2 mile descent into town and right across the finish line to end the day.
Crown King is full of history and well-worth the trip. Hope to see you all out there next year!
