Today marks 650 days since Emile Smith Rowe last scored a Premier League goal for Arsenal, but Arteta said something yesterday about him that should get Arsenal fans excited.
But first, let’s talk about what happened to Smith Rowe, because in 2021-22, it felt like Smith Rowe had established himself as an Arsenal star for many years to come — his 10 league goals that season were fantastic. But in 22/23 things went south because Smith Rowe had to get groin surgery, due to chronic pain — likely due to his body not taking well to growing.
And now over a year later, he’s struggled to claim his place back in an increasingly competitive Arsenal squad.
But here’s what Arteta said yesterday ''Things are coming together for him and he's training really well. I think he’s really pushing to get more and more minutes”. If you know Arteta, you know he doesn’t compliment players like this unless they really deserve it — he’s even picked his words carefully with ESR in the past. So we may finally see the best of Smith Rowe again.
