Beach walking with knee arthritis 🏖️
Walking in the sand can be a great workout and can be very enjoyable when it feels good 👍🏽
But if you have knee arthritis- navigating the sand can be more of a challenge.
When it comes to walking in the deeper sand, try to take shorter steps to help with balance, stability and to decrease pressure on the knee 🙌🏼
Also in the deeper sand, try not to excessively turn your feet outwards as this can collapse the arch of the foot and put more stress on on the inside of the knee ❌
Try to find the harder sand if you can but switch the directions that you’re walking to make up for the slope of the sand and even out the pressure through the joints ☀️
Walking in the sand can be possible using these simple strategies but it’s important to remember that strength and balance will help you significantly in the sand ✅
Make sure that if you have a trip planned or are going to be near a beach that you help to prepare your body using the workouts inside of Adventurers for Life, my arthritis workout program to help make sure your joints are prepared 🏝️⛱️🌊
