I thought this would be more of a philosophy/poetry book and less of a how-to book, nevertheless I enjoyed the book a lot. I'm into samurai and old Japanese history, figured I have to read this book. Miyamoto Musashi is possibly the most well known samurai, I still don't know much about him as a person, but I see his name a lot. The edition I read had some really nice illustrations and photos, which helped make this book worth the read. I will say as far as the writing goes, this was obviously not written in modern day. There was a lot of times he wold say stuff like his way is the only way or he'll tell you some ideas, but you have to look more into it yourself. I still think if you are into samurais and seventeenth century Japan this is something you might want to read.

This books wisdom and insights translate very well into any combat sport or challenge in modern life. I enjoyed getting the perspective of a master who lived 400 years ago and who created his own way of living that is seen in so many great athletes today.
