Just how slow are pro cyclists in the offseason? To shed some light on this, I went from doing 5.8w/kg for 20mins to a low 5.1w/kg for 20mins. My FTP or threshold dropped almost 50W from my in-season peak. Crazy right? Not only did my threshold change but my racing weight had also disappeared. Am I worried? Absolutely not. This is all-natural as you cannot ride at your peak fitness year-round. It is not sustainable. So here we go. Another glimpse into the life of a pro cyclist as I share my current fitness state.
