The Philadelphia 76ers made a huge move by signing Paul George, who used to play for the L.A. Clippers, to a four-year contract worth $212 million. This is probably the most exciting signing in the 76ers' 75-year history. Fans are really excited to see George join Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, forming a powerful trio.
Maxey will definitely benefit from having experienced players around him. Last season, he was fantastic, averaging 25.9 points and 6.2 assists, and even won the league’s Most Improved Player award. However, when Joel Embiid was out for a midseason stretch, the Sixers struggled, showing they needed another star player. They went 11-20 without Embiid from January 27 to March 31, and Embiid played only once during that time, a game they lost to Golden State. By the time Embiid returned and played in just five regular-season games before the playoffs, the Sixers managed only two wins against the Knicks, leading to their first-round loss and the decision to bring in Paul George.
