Today we are planting trees with our friends at TreeUtah at an elementary school on the West side of Salt Lake City, Utah.
They incorporate biochar because it significantly improves their tree planting survival rates.
We typically incorporate 8% to 15% biochar by volume to the tree backfill soils.
TreeUtah blend is comprised of:
* Biochar (90% carbon from woody biomass, mixed sizing 0mm-8mm)
* Rock dust minerals (In Utah we use the micronized Azomite)
* Humate
* Dry compost (for soil organic matter and biology)
* Mycorrhizal fungi
TreeUtah works with volunteers to plant trees. For this reason we prefer to work with a dry compost to keep the weight down and wet compost is more difficult to work with.
