Rockclimbing...Mountain Biking...Snow Boarding... and all thanks to FRICTION!!!
But what is it? ...The hardest part about friction...is getting started! Baadumtsss
Friction is a force that opposes motion. It is caused when two surfaces rub together and when they do this they produce heat.
Friction occurs when our shoes rub against the ground as we walk. It occurs when a bike's tyre rubs against the ground as you ride a bike. And it even occurs when your tongue rubs against as ice cream as you lick it. Yes, it's safe to say friction is happening all the time and without it, we would never be able to stop moving just like things that move through outer space.
Different surfaces have different frictional levels. Some surfaces have very high friction when rubbed together and stick together, while others have very low friction and are much more slippery. Professional mountain biker and best friend @kelangrant1353 explains the importance of friction when mountain biking while I demonstrate the perks of low friction while snowboarding!
