21 years ago a motorcycle accident changed my life and the lives of several others. Accidents like this can be prevented or drastically reduced by some of the new advanced driver assistance systems making progress today. Much of the criticism for Tesla's Full Self Driving Beta being rolled out on public streets assumes this is adding a hazard to already safe streets. While at this stage the driver is still in full control and has full responsibility, that driver also gets a second set of eyes all around the car complete with warnings and alerts. People whose lives would be changed or ended will go home, not realizing the other way their day could have gone.
Since this is a more personal episode, I won't be answering accident questions in the comments. I appreciate any concern and sympathy about it, but this was a long time ago and I've shared plenty about it in the video. I'd be happy to engage about the pros and cons of FSD, Tesla's approach, the rate of improvement, or other elements about the cars or the technology. Thanks for understanding.
