Christmas market at Hamburg Rathausmarkt, The imposing Hamburg City Hall forms the setting for the Christmas market in the absolute center of Hamburg.
Hold on to hat, glasses, apple slices and mulled wine. Every day at 16.00, 18.00 and 20.00, Santa Claus flies in his sleigh over Hamburg town hall square – a really good gig that all children should see and want to love.
Every year, about 100 shopkeepers from all over Germany set up their stalls around this beautiful backdrop and the city of Hamburg helps to make the Christmas market something very special.
It can be dangerous for families with children to visit the market that is known (infamous) for Spielzeuggasse, the toy street where it can be very difficult to get through with children without spending money before reaching all the way through the street.
The Christmas market at the Hamburg Rathausmarkt is just getting bigger and bigger, nicer and nicer and it’s hard to see where it’s going to end, it probably won’t end for the time being every year more and more people come to see the beautiful sight.
