The thyroid gland operates on a negative feedback loop - high levels of TSH signify the thyroid is running too slow (hypothyroidism) and too low of TSH levels signify hyperthyroidism.
You need more than just a TSH blood test to understand thyroid function!
If your thyroid gland is out of balance, you will literally feel it in every cell of your body because thyroid hormone affects metabolism and governs how efficiently you burn (or don't burn!) energy.
Just having a TSH done and none of the other tests won't give you all the info you need to understand how to make your thyroid run as best it can.
Be sure to ask for a complete panel of thyroid tests including:
* TSH
* Free T3
* Free T4
* Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO)
