The identity of the Statue of Liberty, one of America's most famous symbols, remains a mystery. Some sources claim that it represents the facial features of Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom. Others believe that it was modeled after the mother of the statue's designer, Frederick Bartholdi. To this day, the true identity of the statue is still unknown.
