A testing breakthrough by a Melbourne-based medical institute could transform ovarian cancer treatment by preventing unnecessary surgery.
Researches at the Hudson Institute for Medical Research have developed a simple blood test allowing doctors to diagnose ovarian cancer before patients undergo surgery.
Currently, the only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is through surgery but 90 per cent of women have a benign condition and not cancer.
