Country Club of Greenfield is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2021 and is one of the oldest country clubs in the country. The current course is a combination links-style / parkland course with the first nine holes designed in 1901 by Alexander Findlay, considered by some to be "The Father of American Golf." It was later extended to 18 holes in 1931 by Ralph Barton.
The Alexander Findlay Massachusetts Hickory Open is the first hickory golf event each season in New England and is organized by The Hickory Golfers of Massachusetts.
