San Jacinto Peak looms over 10,800FT over the desert floor of Palm Springs, California. Though plenty of day hikers take the Palm Springs Tram to just before the summit, the Marion Mountain trail from Idyllwild offers hikers a less traversed, and far more beastly, path to the summit.
