Internet 2.0 Co-Founder Robert Potter says TikTok is an application which is owned by a company which is headquartered in China.
“It comes from a very different privacy culture to our own,” Mr Potter told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“It’s covered by national security legislation in China from 2017 and counterintelligence legislation from 2014.
“Which says that it has to help China support its national security objectives, and it has a responsibility to not tell users when it’s engaged in surveillance.”
