A simplified look at my approach to escaping the scarf hold position (Kesa-Gatame)🧣
Coming from a competitive Judo background, escaping kesa gatame was & still is a necessary skill. Even when in no-gi, the principles remain the same with minor tweaks. Regardless of the format, this is not a position you want to feel stuck in whether it's in judo, bjj, mma, or certainly a self-defense situation.
(In the 1st escape - When coming up to your elbow, follow-up by rotating to your knees. This is what I meant by “sit up..”. If you noticed, my mind was still shot from the brutal pro-training session we had right before filming 😅)
