Join American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson as he explains how Newton's law and mathematics helped discover the planet Neptune, the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun. Additionally, he talks about John Herschel, who first discovered Uranus with a telescope. Later, when they found out that Uranus was behaving strangely and its orbit was not quite what it was supposed to be, they figured that there must be another planet out there. Two English astronomers independently used math to calculate the location of this mystery planet. Finally, on September 23, 1846, and using deviations in maths, they predicted the planet's location. At the end, he adds how German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle used the Fraunhofer telescope, and with its first observations of the new planet, surprisingly, we found it only 1 degree from its calculated position.
