Defending champion Tiger Woods’ run of four consecutive major titles came to an end in the Oklahoma sun, finishing in a tie for 12th. The 101st U.S. Open is often remembered for the 72nd hole on Sunday. Mark Brooks, Stewart Cink and Retief Goosen all had chances to win on the 72nd hole, including a missed 2-footer by Goosen. Goosen and Brooks advanced to a Monday playoff, where Goosen was victorious by two strokes.
