The away end erupted as Gillingham pulled of a true cup miracle.
You really have to give it to them. They stuck to the game plan got their goal from a beautiful ball in and a well taken header, then managed to force the game to penalties where it was down to one kick of the football.
Brentford’s record signing’s nerves got the better of him and missed the deciding penalty which sent the home side packing out of the competition. That makes it two consecutive penalty shootout victories in the cup for the league two side. Who knows where they will go in the competition!
