This patient had a Retinal Detachment in both eyes. His right eye suffered a Mac-Off Retinal Detachment, while his left eye had a Mac-On Retinal Detachment. After his Retinal Detachment repairs, he developed cataracts and needed them remove. How well can one see after Cataract Surgery if they've had a previous retinal detachment? It depends on multiple variables, but the most important factor is if the Macula was detached or attached at the time of the repair. Other variables include how long the retina was detached for, how well the repair was performed, and also whether or not the patient has other ocular comorbidities. I performed cataract surgery for this patient in both of his eyes. In this video, I'll show a surgical video and the patient will share his experience about how he is seeing after cataract surgery.
