Team train at American University in Washington DC; Douglas works out on the side WASHINGTON DC — FC Barcelona resumed their preseason training regimen, this time at the American University in the heart of the US capital, one day after Sunday's defeat to Manchester United in San Francisco.
As has been the case throughout Barça's American tour, local fans came out en masse, both at the training sessions themselves, as well as near the team hotel and the route taken to get there. Once at American's facilities, the team warmed up on the University's basketball courts.
The players and coaching staff were joined by Robert Fernandez, the new technical secretary of the Club, as well as members of the newly elected Board of Directors, including the President, Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Structured session
As for the session itself, Douglas worked out alone, while the rest of the players came out with a good vibe to warm up and stretch before going into the classic rondo drills.
Luis Suárez, Gerard Piqué, Rafinha, Thomas Vermaelen, Sergi Roberto, Jordi Alba and Andrés Iniesta — the group of players who have accumulated the most minutes during Barça's two matches at the International Champions Cup — were excused early.
The rest of the team completed the evening workout with a medium-intensity minigame which featured high-quality goals and individual play.
