Gaan Sau (梗手) is a versatile technique that can be used for defensive or offensive purposes depending on the situation. The most common usage of this technique will be defending against a strike that is aimed toward your abdomen. Your bottom hand will be defending or deflecting the incoming attack while your top hand will be striking toward the opponent simultaneously.
Gaan Sau can be used as a transitional or recovery movement when you are about to collapse your bodily structure. In that scenario, the Gaan Sao will be paired with the Po Pai (抱牌) which is a double palm strike.
