Grand Ridge is a classic Seattle area ride which has changed greatly as the Issaquah Plateau has developed.
This ride is from the north end heading south around the water tower loop and back. It has been shortened for a quicker viewing time.
The trails current (2017) rendition is a very XC oriented two way trail that handles rain relatively well. Trail work in recent years has eliminated many of the mud holes. Mix that with the relatively low elevation (max ~1,100 feet) and you have a reliable winter riding spot. Most riders on this trail incorporate the trails at Duthie at the northern terminus of Grand Ridge. This proximity makes this a good ride for beginners looking to stretch beyond the usual Duthie/Swan Creek type riding spots. Keep in mind this two way trail is very popular in nice weather with both hikers and other mountain bikers so don't be the bro trying to win those mystical golden Strava pixels. Don't you know you can just like, you know, buy psychological validations?
The parking lot at the Sunset exit is a fairly safe place to park your car which makes this a good night ride option.
2017 saw the opening of the water tower trail which adds a roughly 2 mile optional detour to make your ride a little longer.
