Healthy comfort food, easy to make for lunch or a snack. I prefer to make it by hand because the dough is too hard for a stand mixer.
To make a long story short my grandmother called these "coltunasi" and was using farmer's cheese (cottage cheese) for filling. My kid doesn't like cheese so I made it just with potato and fried onion first, like pierogis. Now I make it with ground meat and potato for his school lunch.
